15th November is a Kimono day and I saw an interesting post on facebook. Kimono day was created by Japan Kimono Revitalization Committee in order to revive Kimono culture. It is the same day as Shichigosan (Children’s festival day) because for Shichigosan, at least the children who cerebrate the festival wear Kimono. They are encouraging people to wear Kimono on this day by holding a Kimono beauty contest and doing promotional activities on TV and news papers.
There is a section in Kyoto city hall which supports and promotes traditional industries in Kyoto and today the officers went to work in Kimono. It is very unusual to see this kind of picture so I wanted to share it here.
It seems there were many people went to work in Kimono today and I also saw a photo at a bank that every one was wearing a Kimono instead of a uniform 🙂
There is also an app to create a magazine cover with your own photo and many people of Kimono group on facebook were posting their personalized Kimono magazine cover with their picture since a few months ago. This app was created by Kyoto Kimono Wholesaler Association to promote Kimono day and it was successful because many people used this app and posted on the social media their magazine cover which shows that 15th November is a Kimono day.
