Shigaraki ware is a type of ceramic made around Shigaraki-cho, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, and is one of Japan’s six oldest kilns.
It was designated as a national traditional craft in 1976. This pottery is made using clay harvested from Lake Biwa, and has a rough texture and a warm earthy look that gives it a deep atmosphere.
This leaf shape plate has a beautiful green glaze in the middle.
The size is good for a cake or Japanese appetizers.
Vintage but it seems they were never used.
There is a stamp of ‘shigaraki yaki’ at the back of the plate.
