Malta’s summer weather is hitting us and this home made Matcha Frappuccino will surely be your favorite summer drink! It’s tasty and gives you energy if you feel drowsy with the heat plus it has a long list of health benefits!
I’ve seen Matcha bubble tea in Malta and my daughter who had a small sip from her friend, said ‘it doesn’t taste that much of Matcha’. If you have tried a Matcha drink in Japan, you’ll notice that here they make it quite light in flavour with less Matcha and you guessed that we like the taste of Matcha a lot. You can make it at home so easily and adjust it according to your liking!
Just 5 ingredients! Don’t add any fruits which overpower the Matcha’s flavour. My favorite fruit with Matcha is banana and mango. Matcha is yummy and healthy so it is not really necessary to mix it with other superfood. Pure Matcha has a value for itself and Japanese tea farmers put a lot of effort in both growing and processing the Matcha to make it tasty. So for us (Japanese) it is really nonsense to mix it with too many ingredients/flavours.
Ingredients
- Around 7 ice-cubes
- 200ml milk of your choice
- 1/2 tbs Matcha green tea powder (you can also use Sencha green tea powder)
- some agave syrup or honey (around 1 tbs)
- a few drops of vanilla essence
Put everything in a blendar and voila ☺
Be aware of Matcha in other origins
Like any other food, Matcha is not made equally. Matcha is available in other origins due to the popular demand and you’ve probably heard that Japanese Matcha is the best. I posted an article on our blog [Processing of Japanese green tea] but there are also certain steps to make Matcha. Japanese Matcha grows in an adequate environment with rich soil and the weather that tea plants need. Uji is the perfect place to grow green tea and it is renowned for producing the best green tea. Growing without chemical fertilisers and pesticides also makes the tea plant stronger and more nutritious. The long history (hundreds of years) of Japanese craftsmanship in making Matcha helped to create the best of it. I hope you will notice the quality in our Matcha.
