About Tokoname ware

Tokoname ware (常滑焼, Tokoname-yaki) is a type of Japanese pottery, stoneware, and ceramics produced in and around Aichi, Japan. Tokoname was the location of one of the six Antient Kilns of Japan and it dates back to the 12th century.

Teapot without a lid – convenient with a contemporary design.

The position and the size of the strainer, and the shape of teapot makes it easy for brewing tea.

This teapot was named ‘Cha-miru’ because you can see the tea leaves becoming large very well due to the particular shape.

‘Cha’ is tea and ‘Miru’ is to look in Japanese.

1: You can clearly see how the tea leaves enlarge and spread.
2: The amount of hot water is obvious at a glance.
3: The structure prevents tea leaves from overflowing.
4: Used tea leaves are easy to throw away and easy to wash.
5: Since there is no lid, it can also be used as ‘Yuzamashi’ a hot water cooler.
6: After the tea is poured, the inside of the teapot cools down quickly, so the tea leaves do not get soggy and can be enjoyed for a multiple brews.

About the strainer

The strainer is fixed in the teapot

-Made of stainless steel

-The mesh is very fine ideal for Fukamushi cha (Deep steamed tea)

-The mesh cannot be removed but if you push hard it might come off (please do not remove it).
