Hohin or Houhin is a small Japanese tea pot which is used for brewing high quality tea leaves such as Gyokuro and high quality Sencha.
In Japanese it is written as: 宝瓶 (Hohin), which means ‘treasure jar’.
This Hohin is made by a Japanese craftsman 近藤清泉 Kondo Seisen. He learned from the 1st Kondo Seisen and inherited the kiln in 2009.
He specializes 三島手 (Mishimade), 御本手 (Gohonde) and 透かし彫り (open work), and his sharp yet warm works have gained good reputation.
The hand-painted cherry blossoms is very popular design and this Hohin is the latest work from the same design.
Furoshiki are Japanese traditional wrapping cloths. It is an eco-friendly gift wrapping; the receiver can re-use it as a place mat and wall decoration, wrapping bento/lunch box, a tissue box and a book for 50cm furoshiki. With 70cm Furoshiki, one can make a hand bag or a wine bag just with knots.
