This Matcha bowl is made by a Japanese craftsman 近藤清泉 Kondo Seisen. He learned from the 1st Kondo Seisen and inherited the kiln in 2009.
He specializes 三島手 (Mishimade), 御本手 (Gohonde) and 透かし彫り (open work), and his sharp yet warm works have gained good reputation.
This Matcha bowl has a pleasant change in the pale colour.
The hand-painted cherry blossoms outside and inside the bowl is the highlight of this Matcha bowl.
This is a very popular piece for Japan lovers.
There is an artist stamp at the back of the bowl.
清水焼 (Kiyomizu-yaki) Kiyomizu ware is a type of Kyō ware which is traditionally from Gojōzaka district near the Kiyomizu Temple, in Kyoto.
The history of Kiyomizu ware dates back to the 16th century.
