Tokoname ware (常滑焼, Tokoname-yaki) is a type of Japanese pottery, stoneware, and ceramics produced in and around Aichi, Japan. Tokoname was the location of one of the six Antient Kilns of Japan and it dates back to the 12th century.
Tokoname teapots are beautiful crafts with deep craftsmanship.
Each of these craftsmen has their own unique characteristics, and they were greatly reflected in the production of tea utensils.
In order to honor their achievements and protect their traditional cultural heritage, in 1973 the government created the title of ‘Traditional Craftsman’.
In addition, the Japan Traditional Crafts Association was established.
It exercises the authority to manage and certify traditional craftsmen.
There are 36 registered traditional craftsmen of Tokoname ware.
They are still exploring the path of pottery and seeking further progress.
This teapot boasts a beautiful luster that changes with the light, and its gentle curves enhance its overall beauty.
Thanks to the ceramic tea strainer, you can savor the authentic taste of tea as the leaves spread effortlessly.
The wide opening makes it convenient to discard used tea leaves and facilitates easy cleaning
You can also enjoy tea as well as Tokoname’s iron rich clay, which is said to remove the tannin (bitterness) of tea and make your tea milder.
