This is a Japanese artist brush for Sumi-e (Suiboku-ga; ink paint), Haiku-ga (haiga), and Etegami (picture drawing).

Ink or paint get absorbed well and can be used to draw bamboo and flowers in shades of gray all at once.

It is also ideal for outlines and coloring.
