Born in the heart of Kyoto, Yagi Kaihou brings the beauty of fully bloomed Sakura to life including a blizzard of cherry blossom petals (Sakura Fubuki), with each petal delicately outlined in gold and painted in soft hues of pink and white.
A Tribute to Kiyomizu Ware Tradition
This exquisite bowl is a proud representation of Kiyomizu ware, a prestigious form of Kyō ware that hails from the historic Gojōzaka district, near the iconic Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto.
With a rich heritage dating back to the 16th century, Kiyomizu ware is celebrated for its intricate craftsmanship and timeless elegance.
About the Artist: Yagi Kaihou
Yagi Kaihou’s journey in ceramics is marked by notable achievements, including a live demonstration of his painting skills in the presence of Her Majesty the Empress in 1968.
His talent further graced international stages with a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware exhibition in Paris in 1993, where he showcased his painting prowess.
Recognized for his contributions to traditional Japanese ceramics, he was certified as a traditional craftsman in 2003, a testament to his mastery and dedication to the art.
