Mini Kimono bag Komon Shippo (silk)

This mini kimono bag is upcycled by a Japanese lady from vintage Kimono.  She cleans kimono first and unstitch then cut the pieces which fits in small scale from bigger scale of Kimono, add other material inside and on top of bags, sew them together then add the strings.  The lady also makes beautiful minituare Kimono and exhibits her works in Japan.

The pattern of this bag is often used in Komon Kimono (Kimono which has small repeated pattern) and it is called Shippo.   Shippo means seven treasures used in buddhist sutras (gold, silver, coral, crystal, Lapsi lazuli, agate, squilla) and it demonstrates the connection with ancestors in the circles.  You are born from your mother and father, your mother and father had their mother and father… basically it means you are here now thanks to all those ancestors who are in these circles.
