‘稲穂 Inaho’ is a Japanese word meaning ‘an ear of rice’. This Matcha bowl has an auspicious design with golden yellow rice plant ‘Inaho’.
Inaho is a typical lucky charm that symbolizes the power of fortune, which is said to increase the number of grains by a factor of 10,000.
Among the coins, there is a lucky five-yen coin in the sense that you can see through the hole that leads to the “ご縁 a chance”. “Inaho” is also drawn on the 5-yen coin.
This Matcha bowl comes with a paulownia box with the title of Matcha bowl and the name of Kiln.
This is called 箱書き Hakogaki and it is a kind of certification to show the origin of the bowl and the successive owners (if there are) which are written in ink on the box.
At the back of the bowl, there is a stamp of 陶彩 Tousai Kiln.
