Mishima tea bowls are made of a grey-colored base with a lot of iron, with a pattern on it with a mark, spatula, or a kind of comb.
After applying white clay, it is shaved or wiped off, and then anorthite glaze or wood ash glaze is applied.
This Matcha bowl comes with a paulownia box with the title of Matcha bowl and the name of Kiln 楽山 (Rakuzan). This is a certification to show the origin of the bowl and the successive owners (if there are) which are written in ink on the box and it is called 箱書き Hakogaki.
The artist is 清水日呂志 Kiyomizu Hiroshi who is the 3rd generation of this Kiln.
A paper slip of his artist activities between 1959 – 1995 is also enclosed.
At the back of the bowl, there is a stamp of 楽山 (Rakuzan).
