Sado Tsumugi 佐渡紬 was born from Sado island.
Sado, known as Okesa Island in Niigata prefecture, is a treasure trove of folk crafts.
It is said that around 1599, pongee weaving began along with bamboo crafts in the private sector.
The package says ‘Luxury weaving Sado Tsumugi’
It seems it was never used as it has no scratches or tear.
It is made of silk.
