Tokoname-yaki (常滑焼) – Tokoname ware is a traditional Japanese pottery style originating from Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture. Recognized as one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, Tokoname ceramics date back to the 12th century and are known for their beauty, functionality, and craftsmanship.
This unique lidless teapot, named “Cha-miru” (茶みる), blends tradition with modern convenience.
– “Cha” means tea
– “Miru” means to look
Its name reflects the clever open design that lets you clearly see the tea leaves as they steep and unfurl.
Clear view of tea leaves as they expand – perfect for appreciating the beauty of loose leaf tea.
Easy to control water level at a glance.
The special shape and strainer prevent overflow of leaves.
Effortless cleanup – no lid makes discarding leaves and washing simpler.
Doubles as a Yuzamashi (hot water cooler) for delicate teas like Gyokuro.
The teapot cools quickly after pouring, preserving the freshness of tea leaves for multiple brews.
